Last week the Senate of Pennsylvania House of Representatives released Senate Resolution 6 (SR 6). The report highlights the challenges associated with providing FIRE and EMS services in the Commonwealth of PA.

While the report is lengthy at over 100 pages the preamble states “FIRE and EMS are in a crisis - right now”. The report highlights woeful funding and also a reduction in volunteers from 300,000 in the 1970’s to just 38,000 volunteers today as part of the numerous problems.

This information may be new to some however the leadership of East Brandywine Fire Company is incredibly proud of fact we’ve been proactively working on these challenges for years. It’s not always been easy, but doing the right thing rarely is easy. Our goal is to provide the highest quality emergency service available to our Community. To that end we have focused on initiatives like sustainable funding, training, retention and recruitment, and compassionate / caring leadership.

In order to be able to continue to provide this incredible level of service, its paramount we continue to have the support of our local Township leaders and our residents.

Please feel free to contact us with questions about the report, meanwhile we will continue to invest ourselves in keeping our citizens safe!
