New Truck Makes a Surprise Visit to Station 49

The evening of Wednesday May 16th started out just like any other training night. Volunteers gathered for a joint training session with Glen Moore Fire Company, with the focus being vehicle rescue.

Just as crews were preparing to leave to head to Glen Moore, Chief 49 notified the station that we may have a special search detail and we were to hold in quarters and await further orders. Additionally volunteers from Station 48 made their way over to also participate in the search.

As crews were in front of the station preparing to receive orders a Federal Q Siren could be heard off in a distance. It didn't take long before everyone noticed a large yellow fire truck heading up Bondsville Road. To everyone's surprise it was our brand new 2012 Seagrave Pumper Tanker.

The reason we were all surprised was that the truck was not to be delivered for nearly two more weeks. It was to be delivered directly to the Fire Expo in Harrisburg, and then would be at the dealer in New Jersey for a week.

Chief 49 unbeknownst to the crew arranged with Foley Fire Apparatus a special sneak peak prior to the show. The so-called search was only a cover to make sure all personnel were present.

Once everyone got over the surprise, they then turned their attention to looking at the truck. The truck received rave reviews from everyone present.

If you are planning to attend the Fire Expo in Harrisburg this coming weekend, make a point to stop by the Seagrave Booth and check it out.
