On Sunday Afternoon, a dozen East Brandywine Fire Company Volunteers took advantage of the great weather and participated in a few training exercises. Both Engines and the Ladder went up to the Timbers Townhouse community to practice a variety of skills.
Engine 49-1, a crew of Junior Firefighters, led by Chief Edwards, reviewed the importance of laying a supply line and the responsibilities of the firefighter who has the task of hooking up and charging the supply line. After a quick review, the crews practiced it live.
Engine 49-5 and Ladder 49 focused more attention on the operators.
Ladder 49 crews deployed hand lines while the operators setup the arial and flowed the ladder pipe.
Engine 49-5 crews deployed hand lines and a portable master stream while the operators focused on establishing a water supply, supplying the ladder and ladder pipe directly, as well as flowing hand lines.
All in all, everyone learned something new and sharpened their skills |
