On Tuesday afternoon January 27th East Brandywine Fire Company Quick Response Service (QRS) was dispatched in conjunction with Minquas Ambulance for an unresponsive overdose patient.

The QRS Unit arrived on scene shortly after East Brandywine Police Officers, Officer Jeff Yankanich had already administered intra-nasal Narcan which the Police recently placed into service. QRS personnel provided rescue breathing via a bag valve mask until the drug had time to act.

Officer Yankanich, and Corporal Steve Leifholt's quick action, administering medication that they were recently trained on, saved a young woman's life. To our knowledge this is the first save in the County in which an Officer administered Narcan.

Congratulations to Officer Yankanich and Corporal Leifholt for a job well done.

The Line Officers would also like to recognize East Brandywine Fire Company EMT's who routinely respond the QRS and provide the Community high quality medical care.

This is yet another great example of how teamwork across different agencies yield life-saving results!
