June 26, 2016

East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers pride themselves on being prepared to respond to emergencies and mitigate the situation. To that end training plays an instrumental role in our weekly routine.

Volunteers train every Wednesday evening in order to be able to better respond to the emergencies that they face. Training Officer Chris Keen in conjunction with the Line Officers puts together a series of comprehensive training classes for skill development.

Additionally Lt. Tyler Smith and Lt. Greg Pilotti provide education on the weekends. This additional training allows for new members to be introduced to the fire service, while allowing more seasoned members to enhance their skill set.

According to Chief John Edwards, "the leadership these guys are providing related to training is unparalleled".

In addition to continued training volunteers also responded to an MVA on Sunday morning on Route 322. Volunteers controlled hazards, while also handling traffic control taking this very busy highway down to one lane for safety purposes.

Lastly Chief's Aide Kevin Shaffer who handles inventory management, distributed personal protective gear to 6 more probationary fire fighters. Shaffer said "its a challenging to keep up with gear distribution however it is the type of problem you want to have".

Special thanks to all of the volunteers who continue to make the Fire Company great.
