By East Brandywine Fire Company
December 18, 2016

At 0821 hours Saturday morning, EBFC Volunteers along with Glen Moore Fire Company, Honey Brook Fire Company #1, Lionville Fire Company, Alert Fire Co. No. 1 and Minquas Fire Company #2, were alerted to a house fire, reported to be an attached garage.

Upon arrival, units encountered a well involved garage fire which had extended to a recreational trailer on the "D" side of the home. The first arriving Engine (ENG 49-5) crew quickly deployed three 1.75" attack lines while the Driver / Operator worked to establish a water supply. Additionally, personnel from Ladder 49 went to the roof and coordinated vertical ventilation to help facilitate an interior attack effort. The fire was quickly controlled limiting damage to the remaining part of the house.

It is important to note that damage was also minimized by the closed door from the garage to the house. We remind you, that if it is safe to do so, close doors to areas on fire as this greatly reduces the amount of fresh air that is needed to sustain a fire.

The Chester County and State Fire Marshals are determining the origin and cause of the fire.

Thank you again to all the volunteers who battled the weather to assist us today. Also thank-you to Modena Fire Company and West Bradford Fire Company for providing stand-by coverage and helping us get back in service following the fire.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family effected particularly during the Christmas Holiday.
