On Wednesday evening February 15th East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers participated in the second part of the Freedom Village training which consisted of an on-site tour of the facility.

The Freedom Village at Brandywine Senior Living Community, housing over 600 residents, has levels of care from Independent and Assisted Living through Alzheimer's and Hospice units. This is considered a high hazard box , therefore having an intimate working knowledge of the building and mechanical systems is essential.

Firefighter Ed Skrzat a former Chief of Montgomery Township Fire Department and Director of Facilities John Pisano conducted the tour.
As East Brandywine volunteers toured the complex special attention was paid to the following:

FDC Connections

Fire Pump Room

Standpipe Connections (in stairways and hallways)

Mechanical Rooms

Gas Shut Offs

Overall Building Construction and Rood Access

Alarm Systems

The Line Officers and Members of East Brandywine Fire Company would like to thank Past Chief Skrzat, John Pisano, and the Facilities Team at Freedom Village for their work in helping us better prepare for emergencies at this complex.
