Over the last weekend fifteen East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers participated in the 16 hour Basic Fire Police training program. The class was instructed by Jim Hunnewell and facilitated through the Bucks County Community College.
Over the course of the sixteen hours, participants learned about the laws and rules associated with fire policing as well as the techniques used in various aspects of the job.
Many who attended the class were impressed with Instructor Hunnewell's emphasis on "customer service" as it relates to traffic control. Instructor Hunnewell stressed the point that over the course of any given incident those controlling traffic will come in contact with hundreds of citizens.
Chief Edwards added "our Instructor was excellent and I can't be more proud of our team particularly since many attended the class with little to no sleep". As it turns out East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers were out both Friday night and Saturday night for extended periods of time assisting others with building fires.
Special thanks to Training Officer Chris Keen for facilitating the class on behalf of the the Company.
