On the afternoon of Monday May 8th, East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers were dispatched to an auto-accident in the area of Route 322 and Highspire Road.

Once en-route Chester County Emergency Radio made Chief 49 (Edwards) aware that the accident involved an overturned trash truck. Upon arrival the report was confirmed and it was also noted that a utility pole was also severed during the crash. It should also be noted the trash truck was full and its estimated weight was approximately 72,000 lbs..

The occupant of the trash truck was evaluated on-scene by Westwood ambulance personnel however was not transported to the hospital.

Unfortunately Route 322 was shut down for an extended period of time in order to upright the truck and also address the power and utility lines which were affected.

Thanks to Flings Towing, PECO, Veirzon, and the West Brandywine Police Department for their collaboration with mitigating this situation.
