June 24, 2017

On Saturday June 24th East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers were dispatched to an auto accident reported serious in the area of Route 82 and Hibernia Road in West Brandywine Township.

Once en-route Chief 49 was notified that 4 cars were involved and one was overturned with people trapped. Upon arrival Route 82 Command was established and 4 BLS ambulances and 2 Medic units were dispatched as a result of the number of patients involved. Additionally Glen Moore Fire Company was added for an additional Rescue and Fire Police were alerted to handle traffic control.

Three patients were extricated from the vehicle and a total of five trauma patients were transported from the scene to Paoli Hospital and Trauma Center.

While still on-scene Chester County Fire Radio alerted Chief 49 they received a second accident reported serious on Culbertson Run Road. Initial reports indicated that one vehicle exited the roadway and went into a creek and the occupants were trapped.

Engine 49-1 and Rescue 33 / Rescue 48 made the response. Upon arrival crews determined that the vehicle was not in the Creek. Personnel from Engine 49-1 removed the roof and doors and the Rescues were recalled. Ambulance 46 and 37 as well as Medic 93 transported two more trauma patients to Paoli Hospital and Trauma Center.

Special thanks to Glen Moore Fire Company, Honey Brook Fire Company, and Wagontown Fire Company Fire Police for their assistance. Additional thank to Fire Police Captain Bill Ford from Honey Brook for coordinating this effort.

Our thoughts an prayers are with all 7 patients and their families who were involved in the auto-accidents.
