Over the course of the last 36 hours East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers have responded to three motor vehicle accidents. Two of the accidents occurred on Route 282, while the other on Route 82 in the area of Hibernia Road.

This mornings accident at Route 82 and Hibernia Road in which two cars collided resulted in a roadway closure of about two hours and required the use of additional resources to mitigate the emergency. One of the vehicles involved in the crash had a ruptured fuel tank and was leaking fuel onto the roadway.

As a result of the fuel leak, personnel from Engine 49-1 and Utility 49 damned the area with oil dry and booms to help prevent spread to the surrounding soil. Additionally the Glen Moore Fire Company and Wagontown Fire Company was requested for more oil dry as well as Flings Towing Containment Unit.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who were involved in the accidents and hope for a speedy recovery. Thanks to the East Brandywine and West Brandywine Police Departments for their help with the crashes.
