On Friday November 11th, East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers partnered with Chief Fire to test the worlds first composite compact ultralight submersible pump. Braving frigid temperatures and high winds coming off the lake, personnel tested this new technology.

Chief John Edwards said "it really is remarkable, this technology has the potential to dramatically improve rural water supply and hopefully improve fire suppression outcomes". Edwards added "the thought that you can achieve 2,000 gpm from a pump weighing 85 lbs in 20 inches is revolutionary".

Assistant Chief Vince D'Amico said "I'm impressed with the pump impeller which is made out of a graphite polymer, it allows the pump to not only be lightweight but also allows it to be corrosion proof".
