As round two of another snow storm vastly approaches, the members at the East Brandywine Fire Company are urging residents to shovel out around your fire hydrants. With 20+ inches of snow on the ground currently and meteorologists calling for an additional 12- 18inches it is critical that the hydrants are properly shoveled out. Fire hydrants are a critical part on a fire scene because they provided the fire apparatus with plenty of water to make a quick stop on a fire. As you clear the driveways and sidewalks, we ask residents to also clear about a 4ft area around the hydrant. We hope the fire company does not have to use it, but in an emergency it will be a great deal of help.
