By East Brandywine Fire Company
April 20, 2019

On Saturday April 20th just before 3:30am East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched along with several other area companies to the 100blk of Cedar Knoll Rd in West Brandywine for the reported house fire. Initial reports were from a resident who was across the street saying a house was on fire across from them.

Deputy 49 arrived on location first and reported heavy fire showing with exposure to a barn. The fire appeared to have started in an attached garage which was mostly on the ground already, however fire had spread into the main house. With that information Chief 35 requested the working fire dispatch and 2 additional tankers be added to the call.

Engine 49-5, Ladder 49 and Engine 49-2 made the response. Upon arrival of Engine 49-5 they pulled alongside of Engine 76 just short of the fire building, stretched a bumper line off 49-5 and also deployed a blitzfire off Engine 76 while also supplying Engine 76 with water.

Upon the arrival of crews from Ladder 49 & Engine 49-2 members placed ground ladders, went to the roof and started opening up to allow smoke and heat to escape from inside. Crews also went inside the residence to help extinguish the fire that had extended into the main house. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down inside crews began to open up the walls and ceiling to look for any hidden fire.

Crews remained on scene for approximately 2 hours doing overhaul and cleaning up.

Our thoughts & prayers are with the homeowners.

Also we would like to Thank Chief Kevin Miller & West Whiteland Fire Company for covering our local while we were tied up at the fire.
