On Wednesday evening June 26th at 11:16pm East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to the 3500blk of Hazelwood Ave in Caln Township for the reported house fire. Initial reports were from the resident of one half of the duplex reporting smoke inside and everyone was out. Caln Police arrived and reported smoke showing and shortly after that they had fire showing from the roof to the rear.

Battalion 49 and Lt 49 arrived first and confirmed the report of a working fire. Deputy 38 with that information requested the working fire dispatch as well as the first alarm tanker task force due to no hydrants in this area.

Engine 49-5 arrived shortly after Engine and Rescue 38 and split their crew to assist with water supply, fire suppression and a crew also threw ground ladders and went to the roof to begin opening up. Chief 49 arrived on scene and was assigned the operations officer by Deputy 38.

Crews worked for over 2 hours trying to gain control of a very stubborn fire that was up in the attic and roof area as well as the walls. Due to the amount of fire and conditions crews were facing a 2nd alarm was struck to assist with manpower. After working for several hours the fire was finally placed under control and crews began to overhaul and look for any hidden pockets of fire.

EBFC responded with Engine 49-5, Ladder 49, Engine 49-2 and the Chiefs with a total of 18 volunteers. Crews returned to station around 3:30am. Special Thanks to Keystone Valley Fire Company Ladder 8 for covering our local while we operated at this fire.
