On Monday September 16th just before midnight East Brandywine Volunteers and an ambulance from Minquas Fire Company were dispatched to 1090 Horseshoe Pike for the auto accident. Initial reports were of a vehicle off the roadway into a tree.

Chief 49, Assistant 49 and Battalion 49 all made the response shortly after dispatch. A member of the fire company was on his way to work and witnessed the accident. After checking on the driver he determined there was entrapment and notified Chief 49 who had the county upgrade the assignment.

Engine 49-1 and Utility 49 made the response. Assistant 49 was the first on location and confirmed a vehicle into the tree with entrapment. Crews from 49-1 arrived first and went in service with chainsaws to start removing the tree from around the vehicle. While several members were doing that others began setting up the hydraulic tools in case the car needed to be cut to access the patient. Fortunately once the tree was removed we were able to access the patient via the passenger side door. EMS removed the patient and transported them to a local hospital.

Crews from 49 then cleaned up and returned to station. EBFC responded with a total of 15 volunteers.
