On Wednesday evening September 25th as members were just returning to the station from having dinner at Thorndale Fire Company a barn fire was dispatched in the area of Ludwigs Corner Fire Company on Pottstown Pike.

Immediately after dispatch Chief 73 reported a barn fully involved and requested the tanker task force due to a lack of hydrants in that area. Engine 49-5 was due on the tanker task force response and went responding right after dispatch with a crew of 6. Upon arrival at the scene the Engine assisted with water supply to the scene while the remaining firefighters went up to the fire ground and assisted there.

The crew from Engine 49-5 filled their tank and supplied the scene 3 times. They also assisted with overhaul of a small chicken coop. Once the fire was placed under control Engine 49-5 was released and returned to station.
