As many are aware October is Fire Prevention Month and every year the volunteers from East Brandywine Fire Company go around to our local schools and provide fire safety tips with all of the kids.

This year we started off on Wednesday the 9th at Pope John Paul II School in West Brandywine. Children were treated to an amazing assembly headed up by our Deputy Chief Joe Edwards. Kids also got to see Freddie the Fire Truck, Sparky the Fire Dog and of course our 10ft tall firemen who is also a huge hit.

The children were shown how smoke detectors work and what to do when they hear them go off. They were also told about the importance of checking the smoke detectors often and changing the batteries at least two times a year. They got to see a stop drop and roll demonstration and much more.

Today we visited Brandywine Wallace and will be going to Reeceville Elementary School tomorrow and Hopewell pre-school next week.

We would like to send our thanks to all of the schools administrators, teachers and of course the kids for allowing us to come out once again and provide all of this critical information.

Don't forget to come visit us at the firehouse next Wednesday October 16th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm for our Open House. We hope to see you all there.
