On Sunday night December 1st just after 11:30pm EBFC volunteers were alerted to a house fire on the 200blk of Lafayette Rd in West Brandywine Twp assisting Station 35. Initial reports were of a fire in the living room and that everyone was evacuated.

Chief 35 went enroute and was advised by the County 911 Center that they were receiving numerous calls. Chief 35 arrived and reported a possible chimney fire with extension in the living room. After investigation Chief 35 requested the working fire dispatch.

Engine 76 and Engine 35 arrived and stretched a handline to the interior of the residence while Ladder 49 pulled in behind them and put the aerial up to the chimney. Crews from 49 split and assisted the interior while also going up the ladder to drop chains down the chimney to clear any blockages.

The fire was knocked down very quickly and once the chimney was cleared the incident was under control. Members from 35 remained on scene for clean up and overhaul while others began to clear the scene.

Station 49 responded with approx. 20 members in Ladder 49, Engine 49-2 and Engine 49-5, Utility 49, QRS 49, Chief and Assistant 49.

Thank you to West Whiteland Engine 6-1 for covering our station while we operated at this scene.
