On Saturday May 2nd just before 3:30pm, East Brandywine Fire Company along with numerous surrounding companies were dispatched to the 300blk of Reeceville Rd in West Brandywine Township for the house fire.

Chief 6 (West Whiteland) was in the area and immediately confirmed a working fire. Battalion 49 after hearing this report requested the working fire dispatch. Battalion 49 and Deputy 49 both arrived next and confirmed all occupants of the residence were out.

Engine 43-1 (Coatesville) arrived and pulled past the house and a member from EBFC pulled an 1 3/4 handline and proceeded to go into the structure. Crews had heavy fire in two rooms on the A/D & C/D corners of the house but it was being held back by a closed door. Once the crew had water they forced open the door and were met with heavy fire conditions and extreme heat. The crew make a strong push into the rooms and starting making a knock on the fire. As they were doing this Engine 49-2 and Ladder 49 arrived on scene. The crew from Ladder 49 put the ladder to the roof, threw ground ladders and proceeded to the roof to begin opening up. The crew from Engine 49-2 stretched a second 1 3/4 handline and went into the house and met up with the first crew. Once both lines were in service one crew went to the left and the other to the right side and were able to quickly extinguish the remainder of the fire.

The bulk of the fire was knocked by the crews in approx. 6 minutes from the arrival of the first engine. At that time crews began to open up and check for any hidden fire.

Chief 49 had command of the incident while Deputy 49 had operations and Deputy 35 had water supply.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners for all of the assistance on scene and also to Honey Brook Fire Company for covering our local while we operated at this fire.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
