On Sunday evening just after 8pm the East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched along with several other departments to assist Thorndale Fire Company on a reported house fire in the 100blk of Schoolhouse Ln.

Initial reports from the caller were that the smoke was coming from the upstairs windows of the residence. Chief 6 was in the area and confirmed a working fire on the second floor of the residence.

Engines 49-2, 49-5, 49-1 and Ladder 49 all made the response. Engine 49-2 was the first EBFC piece on the scene and the crew pulled a secondary 1 3/4 handline and advanced it to the rear of the structure. Engine 35 and Rescue 38 were already on scene and had a line in the front door of the residence. A third line was stretched by 49 also to the rear but both lines in the rear were not needed as the fire was held to the kitchen area of the residence.

Crews remained on scene to check for any extension and overhaul the fire area. At that time crews began to pick up all their equipment and repack the hose and were made available.

EBFC responded with a total of 26 volunteers.
