On October 14th after our monthly meeting was finished the volunteers spent time checking all of the equipment on the trucks to make sure it was working properly. After all of that was done crews got geared up and got a chance to practice on vehicle fires.

Recently we held several pieces of training on our training pad behind the firehouse and have several vehicles still sitting in the back that had been cut up. Before we had them taken away crews got the chance to light one on fire and practice their skills.

Once the vehicle was lit a crew on Engine 49-2 stretched the 200ft 1 3/4 bumper line and extinguished the fire. We were able to do two evolutions so that everyone had a chance to work the hoseline and do different tasks.

Little did we know these skills would be put to the test only a few hours later.
