On Memorial Day just before 4:30 pm, EBFC volunteers and EMS from Westwood were dispatched to Horseshoe Pike & Summers Ln in West Brandywine Twp for an auto accident. Shortly after dispatch two of our volunteers that live in the area arrived and notified other members that it was going to be one vehicle that struck a telephone pole snapping it in half and causing the wires to come down and hang across all lanes of travel on Horseshoe Pike. Rescue 49, QRS 49, Utility 49 with the Cone Trailer, and Batallion 49 all made the response. Crews arrived on the scene and checked for any other hazards and confirmed that the operator of the vehicle was out of the car. PECO was notified immediately and crews placed barricades at Culbertson Run & Swinehart closing down the roadway for an extended period of time. The road remained closed until early the next morning when PECO was able to complete all of the repairs. |
