On Saturday, July 31st at 12:05 pm the volunteers of East Brandywine Fire Company along with EMS from MICU 144 were dispatched to Route 322 & 82 in West Brandywine Township for an auto accident reported with entrapment.

Deputy 49 arrived first with a two-vehicle accident blocking traffic. Rescue 49 and Ladder 49 made the response and Rescue 49 was advised by Deputy 49 to nose into the vehicle and prepare to remove the driver side door to extricate the patient.

Upon the arrival of the Rescue crews removed both the drivers' side doors and the "B" post to allow EMS better access to the patient. Ladder 49's crew arrived and also assisted with the extrication. Crews quickly had the extrication complete and turned care over to EMS. Luckily the driver was not seriously injured and refused transport by EMS.

Crews remained on the scene to clean up the roadway and get the equipment back on the trucks while waiting for the vehicles to be removed by Fling's Towing.
