At 11:15am on Friday morning, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched with several other companies to assist the Downingtown Fire Department with a reported house fire on Gable Ave in Downingtown.

Initial reports were of smoke coming from the wall behind the oven and that all occupants were out of the house. Chief 39 arrived first and reported nothing showing from all sides of the residence. Engine 38 arrived next and after making entry found a smoke condition inside and stretched an 1 3/4 handline. Crews went inside and found fire in the basement of the residence.

Engine 49-5 arrived on location as the 3rd due Engine and nosed into Engine 38 and prepared to supply them with water if needed. While this was being done the rest of the crew assisted members of 38, 45 & 46 with opening up on the interior and exterior of the home. Luckily the fire was extinguished quickly and damage was limited to a small area. Crews were on scene for approx. 30 minutes before clearing.
