Firefighters were dispatched to the unit block of Maplewood Dr in West Brandywine at 1:45am on March 18th for a mobile home fire reported with entrapment.

Initial reports were of the home on fire and the caller stated a male was still trapped inside the residence. Police Officers arrived on location and confirmed one male was still unaccounted for. MICU 144 arrived and reported fire throughout the home.

Engine 76 arrived and dropped a supply line from the intersection of Hurley and Maplewood and pulled past the scene. Engine 49-2 followed right behind them and both crews deployed handlines to start extinguishing the flames. As crews began to make an aggressive attack firefighters from multiple other departments began to arrive to assist.

EBFC responded with 17 members and made the response with Engine 49-2, 49-5, Rescue 49 and Ladder 49.

The fire was placed under control at 0220hrs. EMS transported one subject with non life threatening burns and unfortunately one male did not make it.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends.
