On Monday evening 4/11/2022 shortly after 6pm, East Brandywine Fire Company along with mutual aid departments were dispatched to the 100 block of Crawford Rd in East Brandywine for a reported house fire. Initial reports were of a fire on the front porch of a residence.

Deputy 38 (Thorndale) arrived on location first and reported fire showing from the front porch. Chief 49 arrived a short time later and took command. Engine 49-2 arrived and dropped 850 feet of 5 inch from the end of the driveway to the scene and stretched an 1 3/4 handline. The crew quickly charged the line and made a quick knock on the fire. A rolled up carpet and some other objects had been on fire by the front doorway and were pulled out to the driveway by Deputy 38. Crews made entry and knocked down the remainder of the fire around the doorway area and began to open up. A backup 1 3/4 line was stretched to the front door as well but was not needed and not charged.

As mutual aid began to arrive and make their way up the driveway the assignment was held to units on the scene and then a short time later held to East Brandywine units only. Crews remained on scene for approx. 1 hour to re-pack the hoselines and get the trucks ready for the next run.

Thank you to Honey Brook Engine 33-5 for covering our local while we operated at this fire.
