At 10:46pm on Friday evening 6/3 the volunteers from East Brandywine along with our mutual aid companies were dispatched to the unit block of Blakely Rd in East Brandywine for a reported house fire. Initial reports were of an electrical meter smoking but no flames visible and the residents had evacuated the house. Chief 73 and Engine 73-1 who were covering Thorndale Fire Company while they were working the Strawberry Festival arrived and Chief 73 reported an active fire in the walls of the home. Engine 76 arrived next and dropped a supply line from the top of the driveway down to the scene. Engine 49-2 arrived at the same time and pulled in behind them. Crews proceeded to the house with hand-tools and began to open the wall up to expose any fire. Crews were able to open up quickly and extinguish the small fire with extinguishers and confirmed there was no further extension. At that time the assignment was held to East Brandywine units only once other crews were able to clean up and return their equipment to the trucks. Engine 49-2, Ladder 49, Engine 49-5, Rescue 49, Utility and QRS 49 all made the response with a total of 14 volunteers. EBFC crews remained on scene for approx. 30 minutes longer before clearing the scene. |
