On Monday 3/6/2023 at 12:13pm the EBFC volunteers were dispatched to Manor Rd & Hibernia in West Brandywine Township for a report of a transformer fire. Two minutes later the call was upgraded to an accident with possible entrapment when Chester County 911 Center began receiving calls for a box truck into a pole.

Chief 49, Rescue 49, QRS 49 and Utility 49 all made the response. MICU 244 arrived on location first and reported wires down on the roadway with an active fire on the ground and telephone pole. EMS also confirmed one subject was trapped in the box truck that was now approx. 15 feet away from the wires. PECO had been requested and arrived within minutes and de-energized the down lines.

Upon the arrival of Rescue 49 crews immediately went to work to free the trapped occupant of the truck. Due to the extent of the entrapment Chief 49 requested additional rescue companies to the scene to assist. Crews from 49 utilized the holmatro tools to remove both doors and also made relief cuts on each side of the frame. Once that was done crews had to utilize the rams and a come-a-long to roll the dash off of the drivers legs to free them. Rescue 33 arrived and assisted the crew from 49 and the driver was extricated at 12:55pm and turned over to EMS who transported to a local hospital.

While operating on scene Fire Police from Wagontown, Honey Brook and Glen Moore closed the roadway. Crews cleared the scene a short time later after Penndot arrived with barricades and the scene was turned over to PD and PECO.
