On Tuesday 3/7/2023 at 1:59pm, EBFC volunteers were dispatched to the area of Little Washington and Grandview Dr in East Brandywine Township for a report of a tree that had fallen on wires, causing a brush fire.

Deputy 49 arrived and reported wires down with approximately 1 acre of brush on fire, but spreading quickly. Engine 49-2 deployed a booster line and two 1 ¾ handlines to start extinguishing the fire and protect property. Due to the high winds the fire had already began to spread up the hill on Grandview and was threatening two nearby homes.

Engine 49-5 arrived and supplied Engine 49-2 with water. Additional tankers were requested from Honey Brook and Glen Moore as well as Brush/ATV units from Alert, Glen Moore, Honey Brook, West Whiteland and West Bradford Fire Companies. The fire was placed under control at 2:35pm. Extensive overhaul was needed to wet down the area, with EBFC crews remaining on scene until 4:15pm.

Thank you to all the assisting companies for your help as well as Modena Fire Company for covering our area with their Engine and Brush truck while we operated on scene.
