East Brandywine Volunteers conducted a full scale vehicle rescue drill Wednesday night. Training Officer Peta led 36 firefighters and our entire fleet of equipment, simulating a three vehicle accident with three trapped patients.

Rescue 49 arrived first to find a three vehicle accident with multiple trapped patients. Qrs 49’s crew of EMT’s arrived and began patient access and care. Ladder 49 arrived third, met with the Rescue officer, and began extricating the second victim with the Ladder’s compliment of rescue tools. Crews from both Engines and the utility arrived last to begin work on the third car.

Working as a team, 49’s fire and ems staff were able to extricate all three patients in just under 30 minutes. Extra practice on the equipment was provided for junior members after the scenario.
