Just before 5pm this afternoon the company was dispatched to a chimney fire in West Brandywine.

Deputy 49 arrived first with smoke showing from the chimney and all occupants were out of the house.
Engine 49-2 and Ladder 49 arrived and the crew from Engine 49-2 stretched an 1 3/4 to the door while Ladder 49's crew placed ground ladders and went to the roof.

Crews cleaned out the firebox inside and once that was completed the roof crew utilized chains to clean out the chimney of any burning creosote. Luckily the fire was minor and there was no extension to the house itself.

Engine 49-5 and Utility 49 also made the response. Crews were on scene for approx. 25 minutes before clearing.
