Vehicle Rescue Training — Week Three

This week, our members completed full-scale vehicle extrication evolutions as we continued our Vehicle Rescue Training series.

Members divided into two teams, with each team assigned a vehicle and a firefighter acting as a simulated patient. Crews worked through the entire rescue process, including vehicle stabilization, glass management, door removal, patient protection and removal.

One team faced the added challenge of a vehicle resting on its roof. While the vehicle remained inverted, crews removed the roof to gain access to the patient and complete the extrication. Afterward, members continued cutting through the vehicle’s undercarriage and used a winch with a redirect from the utility truck to “flap” the vehicle—ultimately folding it in half.

These hands-on drills allow our members to practice teamwork, tool operation, communication and problem-solving under realistic and challenging conditions. Great work by everyone involved!
