Sunday Morning Training Exercise

On Sunday, April 6th, The East Brandywine Fire Company Engineering Division organized a training session to sharpen their skills operating the apparatus as well as allow new drivers a chance to put their newly acquired skills and knowledge into practice.

A portion of the fire company's coverage area is not serviced by fire hydrants. In the event there is a fire in these areas, the fire company must find an alternate water source such as a pond, river, etc. Some neighborhoods or municipalities will even build a water source solely for fire department use in case of a fire.

Using a static water source is not always easy, so volunteers felt it necessary to not only practice, but to verify the functionality of several of our local water sources since they are not frequently utilized. The volunteers traveled to four different static water sources during the course of the day!
