On Saturday, August 23rd, East Brandywine Fire Company Volunteers partnered with the East Brandywine Parks & Recreation Committee, participating in East Brandywine's Annual Community Day.

The day started out with a 5K "Run for the Parks." The fire company volunteers manned the ATV and the QRS (EMS Unit) in case any emergencies were to arise. Also, during the run, the fire company supplied "Race Marshals" to ensure the safety of the runners and that they were running on the designated route.

Throughout the day, a live band played music, while there were activities for all age groups, including, an antique car show, pony rides, moonbounces, face painting, crafts, and much more.

At the beginning of the community day, the VFW passed the American Flag to Captain Vince D'Amico to be raised by Ladder 49, during the National Anthem Ceremony.

During the whole day, the fire company had its equipment on display for the guests to check out and ask questions. Halfway through the day, the fire company volunteers demonstrated a live vehicle extrication with two patients trapped in a car. Towards the end of the day, the fire company then demonstrated a repelling exercise. Several of our firefighters repelled from the top of the ladder, 75 ft in the air!

The East Brandywine Fire Company would like to thank all of those who came out to enjoy the day as well as Dave Summers and the Parks & Recreation Committee, and East Brandywine Township.
