On Saturday September 13th, East Brandywine Fire Company partnered with residents from Applecross Country Club for a boot drive to raise funds for the Company. Additionally multiple homes in the Community participated in a yard sale which their $10 participation fees also was donated to the Fire Company.

Firefighter Greg Kohlmaier spearheaded this grass roots initiative, which resulted in over $3,400. Multiple residents volunteered to be block Captains and go door to door to solicit donations. An email was sent every home in advance making them aware of the campaign.

According to Chief Edwards these types of community-based initiatives are vital to preserving the volunteer fire service. “I’m excited about forming these types of partnerships” Chief Edwards said, “it is not only the financial support that proves beneficial but also the awareness that comes about regarding the Fire Company’s needs”.

The Officers and Members of East Brandywine Fire Company would like to thank Greg, and all of the Block Captains for making this event so successful. Additionally the Officers and Members would like to thank the Residents of Applecross for their donations as well as those who participated in the yard sale.
