Internal Driver / Operator Test on Engine 49-1 |

On Monday September 29th, Engineer John Groff successfully completed his internal driver / operator test on Engine 49-1. Engineer Groff who is already qualified on Engine 49-5 participated in a scenario-based test. Prior to testing Enginner Groff completed the necessary prerequisite training to qualify. East Brandywine Fire Company sets high expectations for their Drivers both in regards to driving safely as well as operationally. In order to be eligible to test, the candidate must have the following: Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC) Firefighter I or Equivalent Training Pump Operations Class Ten hours of road time driving the apparatus In order to successfully pass the Company's internal Driver / Operator test, the candidate must demonstrate competency with the following: Driving the apparatus safely Deploying and pumping a single line for fire attack while using tank water Deploying and pumping a back-up line for fire attack using tank water Establishing a water supply Changing between tank water and water supply source safely while sustaining a functional water flow Deploying and Operating a Master Stream device Operating the Generator
