On Monday evening November 4th East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers responded to the Brandywine YMCA where a tragic case of domestic violence resulted in two persons losing their lives.

The Officers and Members of East Brandywine Fire Company would like to extend their thoughts and prayers to all of the friends and family who have been affected by this senseless tragedy.

We would also like to recognize the Staff and Leadership of the Brandywine YMCA whose emergency response procedures facilitated an immediate emergency response and helped keep members safe. All of the YMCA personnel involved handled a difficult situation with grace and professionalism.

Additionally the YMCA members who were locked in the building during the incident should be praised for their understanding and patience. All of the members could not have been more understanding given the difficult nature of the situation.

Lastly we would like to acknowledge the tremendous work of all of the Law Enforcement professionals involved in the incident.

East Brandywine Fire Company was assisted on the call by Medic 93, Westwood and Washington Hose Company Ambulance services who all did an outstanding job under very difficult circumstances.
