On Monday afternoon December 8th, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to Freedom Village for a reported building fire at the main building. Additionally many mutual aid companies were also on the dispatch because of the type of occupancy.

It was determined to be a circulating pump that burnt up in the boiler room due to the power outage in the area. The incident was quickly scaled back and Chief 49 placed the situation under control.

While units were returning to the station, the West Brandywine Police alerted the fire units to a house on the 500 block of Reeceville Road for a Carbon Monoxide Incident. Crews responded immediately and investigated. Crews did not find any readings and determined the CO Detector in the house to be malfunctioning due to the area power outage as well.
