Over the course of the last month, 25 East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers have been training in preparation for the National Pro-Board Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Certification.

The training is being conducted by Bucks County Community College Public Safety Training.

Training Officer Chris Keen indicated "this training is important as it serves as the foundation for most other training classes fire fighters will attend". Additionally Keen stated "although this is a challenging class, we know it is important for the safety of our residents".

Assistant Chief Vince D'Amico said "hazardous materials incidents are low frequency, high risk events, we want to make sure our personnel are prepared to handle the initial response and activate the appropriate resources".

The class will continue through this coming weekend with volunteers training 8 hours on both Saturday and Sunday. Testing will be conducted in April.

The Line Officers would like to thank all of the volunteers who are participating in this training. Once again it shows the high level of commitment you have to building your knowledge base and protecting our residents.
