Driver Operator Testing on Ladder 49 and Engine 49-1

The Officers and Members of the East Brandywine Fire Company would like to congratulate Assistant Chief Vince D'Amico and FF / EMT Dane Edwards for successfully passing their Internal Driver Operator tests.

Assistant Chief D'Amico tested on Ladder 49 while FF / EMT Edwards tested on Engine 49-1.

In order to be considered for testing a candidate must being in procession of a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) as well as an EVOC certificate. Additionally, the candidate must have Pumps, Aerial Operations, and have 10 hours of time operating and driving the apparatus on which they are testing.

Each test consists of the candidate demonstrating their ability to perform the following operations:

• Pre Trip Inspection
• Understand Safe Operating Procedures such as Seat-belts
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Company Response Matrix
• Demonstrate an understanding of Radio / MDC Procedures
• Driving the apparatus safely
• Deploy and pump a single line for fire attack while using tank water
• Deploy and pump a back-up line for fire attack using tank water
• Establish a water supply
• Change between tank water and water supply source safely while sustaining a functional water flow
• Deploy and Operate a Master Stream device
• Establish a Water Supply from a static water source
• Operate the Generator
• Operate the Light Tower (49-1)
• Operate the main aerial in both rescue mode, and master stream mode (L-49)
