On Wednesday evening April 23rd, 18 East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers sat for the National Pro Board Certification written examination for Hazardous Materials Operations.

This written test was the culmination of 2 months of training on both Hazardous Materials Awareness, and Operations. The course was facilitated by Bucks County Community College.

Fire Chief John Edwards said "I cannot be more proud of our team of people, they have committed countless hours of their time to improve their knowledge base regarding a difficult subject". Edwards added "I can tell you based on this training we are far better equipped knowledge wise to respond initially to a hazardous materials incident then we were two months ago". Edwards also said "our goal is to promote personal safety, identify the presence of a hazard, isolate the area, and notify the appropriate experts like the Chester County Hazmat Team to mitigate the problem".

The Line Officers would like to thank Training Officer Chris Keen and Assistant Chief Vince D'Amico for taking the lead and facilitating this training. Special thanks to the Bucks County Community College Fire Training Staff for their help and support.
