Over this past weekend East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers had the opportunity to have all of their activities filmed. The filming was part of a documentary profiling the volunteer fire service. Volunteer firefighters provide 85% of the fire service in the United States today, resulting in billions of dollars saved by taxpayers.

Retention and recruitment, funding, and dangers such as lightweight building construction were just some of the topics that Line Officers and Firefighters tried to highlight for the film. According to Deputy Fire Chief Joe Edwards 'our goal was to profile the volunteer fire service as a whole, not just focus on issues specific to our Station".

A film crew of five spent 3 days at the firehouse around the clock, shooting video using a high tech cameras, as well as GoPro's. Assistant Chief Vince D'Amico who was interviewed as part of the project said "the film crew was also interested in understanding what motivates people to volunteer their time to provide an emergency service".

Over the course of the weekend, film crew members also donned fire gear and worked on the peaked roof prop in order to gain a better understanding of what it's like to be a firefighter.

The Officers and Members of the East Brandywine Fire Company would like to thank the film crew for their commitment to helping people understand the volunteer fire service.
