On Monday September 7th, East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers responded to a reported house fire at 100 Hopewell Road. Additionally the Glen Moore Fire Company, Lionville Fire Company and the Downingtown Fire Department were due on the assignment.

Passerby's reported smoke coming from the roof and upon arrival of Captain 49 he confirmed this report and the "working fire dispatch" was requested. Additionally East Brandywine Police Officer's reported a car in the driveway and the homeowners were unaccounted for.

While entering the building for search and fire suppression purposes crews encountered heavy fire on the first and second floor. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and the primary and secondary search for occupants proved negative.

Once the bulk of the fire was extinguished, crews focused their attention on salvage and overhaul, while State, County, and local Fire Marshals investigated the scene for the origin and cause of the fire.

According to Fire Chief John Edwards, "I'm very proud of not only East Brandywine volunteers but our mutual aide partners as well". Edwards added "for the volume of fire encountered, the fire was quickly extinguished, this is a testament to everyone's skill who operated on the fire-ground".

The Line Officers of East Brandywine Fire Company would like to thank those who assisted at the fire yesterday as well as those who provided stand-by coverage. Additionally our thoughts and prayers go out to the homeowners, whose lives have been affected by this fire.
