On Monday October 7th 2015, East Brandywine Fire Company Volunteers visited Friendship Elementary School to kick off Fire Prevention Week.

This year’s theme as determined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is “Hear The Beep Where You Sleep”.

During two, 45 minutes assemblies East Brandywine Volunteers engaged the students in discussion and reviewed the following life saving topics:

Emergency phone number (911)

Importance of not playing with Fire

Stop / Drop / Roll

Friendly Fireman

Importance of Smoke Detectors

Importance of Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Escape Planning – 2-ways out

Fire Extinguisher Use

Of course, no assembly would be complete without a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog and Freddie the Fire Truck.

Following the assemblies Principal Bentman was very complimentary regarding the East Brandywine Fire Company Fire Prevention Program. Principal Bentman dubbed Freddie the Fire Truck the unofficial mascot of the School.

The Officers and Members of East Brandywine would like to thank Principal Bentman and the Faculty for their hospitality, and their commitment to help educate their students about how to respond in an emergency.
