On Wednesday evening May 5th, thirty-two East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers turned out to participate in air bag training. This is the fourth installment of an eight part series surrounding vehicle rescue.

Training Officer Chris Keen and Captain Joe Monestere reviewed all aspects of an air bag operation to include the following:

Identification of all equipment utilized in an air bag operation

Function of air bag equipment

Optimal air bag set up for a successful outcome

Cribbing philosophy

Communication

Air bag pitfalls and tricks of the trade

The night culminated with personnel rescuing a victim who had become pinned under his mini-van two separate ways.

The Line Officers would like to thank everyone for their continued commitment to training. The crews energy and enthusiasm is contagious.
