Unusual Playground Rescue

On Saturday afternoon September 17th East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers were dispatched to the East Brandywine Township Community Park for a rescue.

While enroute, responding personnel were informed by Chester County Fire Radio that a teenager had become stuck in a swing-set. Fire Radio also added that attempts to remove the patient over 30 minutes had proved futile.

Deputy 49 (Edwards) arrived on scene and confirmed reports and requested various hand tools and hydraulic tools. Interestingly the construction of the seat (hardened plastic covering sheet metal) and how tightly it surrounded the patients lower extremities proved for a tricky extrication.

Special thanks to the East Brandywine Police Department, Glen Moore Fire Company, Westwood Ambulance, and Medic 93 for their assistance on the call.
