On Sunday November 20th, East Brandywine Fire Company volunteers received a unique request, that request entailed breaking into a safe.

This request originated with a resident contacting the Police Department to help gain access to a safe that contained over 20 different medications. Unfortunately the recently purchased safe's locking mechanism malfunctioned and was unable to be opened in the traditional fashion.

East Brandywine Police reached out to the Fire Company for assistance. Volunteers used a hydra-ram to gain a purchase point, then opened it with hydraulic spreaders.

Lieutenant Tyler Smith summed it up best when he said "this call represents the fact that everyone's emergency is a little different". Smith added "it was essential that this resident be able to gain access to important life sustaining medications".
