By East Brandywine Fire Company
April 3, 2019

On Wednesday afternoon April 3rd East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to Bolero Drive in Applecross for the reported house fire. Initial reports indicated flames from the front of the house.

Deputy 49 arrived minutes after the initial dispatch and reported heavy smoke and flames showing from the front of the house. Engine 49-2 arrived and layed in from the hydrant to supply the scene with water. Personnel from Engine 49-2 and Engine 76 from VA Hospital both stretched a hose line and started fire suppression activities.

Personnel not only battled significant fire conditions upon arrival, they also contended with initial reports that there were people potentially trapped in the home. Additionally high winds created dangerous fire ground conditions. Due to the potential for entrapment and the high winds Deputy 49 requested a 2nd alarm to bring more manpower to the scene to assist.

East Brandywine crews were on scene until approximately 6pm performing salvage and overhaul and assisting the Chester County Fire Marshal's office.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family affected by the fire.

We would also like to say "thank-you" to all of our mutual aid partners who assisted with the fire. All those involved did a phenomenal job of containing this fire and quickly bringing it under control.
