August 21, 2020

On Friday August 21st at 5:02pm Station 49 along with 48 (Glen Moore), Engine 38 (Thorndale), Engine 45 (Alert), Rescue 35 (Wagontown), Engine 39 (West Bradford), RIT 33 (Honey Brook) and MICU 46 (Minquas) were dispatched to the 500blk of Prizer Ct in the Applecross Development for the reported house fire.

Deputy 49 made the response immediately after dispatch and was notified by Chester County 911 Center that the homeowners found smoke inside the residence with the sprinkler system activated. The Deputy arrived a short time later with nothing showing from the exterior. After going inside to investigate the Deputy confirmed there had been an active fire on the couch on the 1st floor and the sprinkler system activated and extinguished the fire. Engine 49-2 arrived with 6 firefighters and stretched an 1 3/4 handline in case of any extension. Luckily the sprinklers held the fire to only the couch and Deputy 49 held the response to the 49 units only.

Crews assisted the homeowners in trying to move valuables that were in the area where the sprinklers went off and also set up tarps to keep the water off some other items. A positive pressure fan was also used to remove any remaining smoke from the residence.

Engines 49-2, 49-5, 49-1, Ladder 49 and Utility 49 all made the response. Crews from 49 were on scene for under an hour.
